We've had an epic busy summer here at Muti HQ and the fruits of our labour is surfacing at digital retail sites near you ;)
Here's the lowdown on what's going on with various promotions and where to get / hear the tracks.
First up is one of the most fun EP's we've done in a while, with straight up good vibes all around and made that much more special with a remix from Romanian 'Mesmer'.
http://www.mutimusic.com/Muti018_Anim.gif
Muti018 - Great Scott - Bollygraph Test EP (w/ Mesmer Remix)
Current Beatport Exclusive: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/label/detail/5058/muti_music
1. Bollygraph Test
2. Bollygraph Test (Mesmer Remix)
3. Chai Overdose
Some early response:
- “ohh Great Scott!! …. Who said Asian breaks were dead? They’re alive and kickin’ if producers like DJ Great Scott grace our ears.” _ projectbollyhood.com
- BBC Radio – “Multiple plays on Bobby Friction and Nihal’s BBC radio show”
- “ If you like bass, if you like grumble DJ Great Scott’s ‘Bollygraph Test’ will get you ready to rumble!” _ brandnu.org

Great Scott is making waves with his Asian flavored beats. The host of “MK Ultra,” on KTRU in Houston, TX has been seeing weekly support on the Bobby Friction show on BBC radio and also recently had a collaboration project with well known breaks producer “Undecided” signed to UK breaks label Mechanoise.
Scott has broken into the international music scene before with a brief stint working and gigging in Beijing, China. The ‘Bollygraph Test EP’ looks to be pushing that international journey even further with it’s Asian beat flavour and also for the fact that it features the Romanian rising breakbeat star, Mesmer, who is known for his multiple releases on ‘Bombtraxx’, ‘Bijoubeats’, ‘Sango Music’and ‘Sound Of Habib' who will be releasing his forthcoming album.

Muti015 - Nanda - Somewhere Between Worlds EP
- Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Recordings): "... really strick grooves, good for my taste..."
- Ed 2000 (Dangerous Drums): "Loving your releases of late!!!"
- Nick (Interchill): "I really like and played the awakening - v cool tune, for the me the stronglest on the ep"
- Ratling (Breaks FM) : "on first listen its 'high heals not allowed' that stands out for me. a good package over all but its this tune that I'm gonna drop in somewhere tonight on my show."
also on Juno, Trackitdown, Streetwise and other digital outlets like iTunes, eMusic by the end of this week.
File Under: Breakbeat / Electro / Glitch / Dubstep / Leftfield / Midtempo / Grime
6. High Heals Not Allowed	6:09

Muti017 - Subvert - Dirt Nap EP
A crunchy little bass driven midtempo monster that is currently exclusive and top selling EP on Addictech:
http://www.mutimusic.com/Muti017.jpg
File Under: Breakbeat / Grime / Dubstep / Glitch / Bigbeat / Midtempo
Addictech: http://www.addictech.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=14005
- B-Side : "some sick shit man!"
- Ratling (Breaks FM): "huge props as usual on releases 16 & 17 keep up the goodness."
- Sneak-E Pete (Blunted Funk / MobBeats / Samurai.FM - SF): " Size Matters is giving me stage-fright. Super sick bass, will play in Brooklyn this weekend! Also going to be playing a few of these on Samurai.FM for sure...digging the mix of funk N noise on Curbstomper."

1. Dirt Nap	5:45	by Excision & Subvert
2. Pump et Up	5:17	by Subvert
3. Curbstomper	4:29	by Subvert
4. Size Matters	4:09 by Subvert

Known for crunchy midrange bass and huge sub frequency drops, Subvert's tracks have been doing promo rounds and have made regular appearances in the sets of Bassnectar, Ill Gates (The Phat Conductor) & Dov amongst others.'Excision' collaborates with Subvert on the title track which exemplifies the newer fusion of dubstep, grime and hip-hop tempo's with the dubstep aesthetic resulting in a pumped up bass driven dancefloor mayhem. The EP delivers whompy bass and big drops abundantly and will definitely makes those sub woofers work.
The past year has truly seen the emergence of Subvert as a recording artist, with a slew of new releases in the first half of 2008:
‘Subversion’ and ‘No Smokey Ganja’ on Rottun Recordings,
‘Bigtsteppa’ on Punch Out
and a recent remix of the Ill Gates smasher ‘Sweat Shop’ also coming soon on Muti Music.

Muti016 - Heyoka - Pineal Dub
We also have a psychedelic dubbed out experience that is currently exclusive on Addictech:
http://www.addictech.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=13374
http://www.mutimusic.com/Muti016.jpg
File Under: Dubstep / Chillout / Downtempo / Psychill
"Spacious melodic dub electronica. Heyoka has a deeply psychedelic sound full of squelches, blips, sonic flickers and all manner of effected sine waves, corrosive synthetics and acidic programming. Driven by huge, lumbering bass lines and gritty programmed drumtracks Pineal Dub draws on elements of IDM, glitch, downtempo and displaced hip hop binding them up into a consistent dub framework, with a very low centre of gravity." - Morpheus Music / Electronic Music Mall
Tracklisting:
1. Etheric Dub 5:18
2. Lazy Bass 6:58
3. Melting 5:00
4. Squishy Dub 5:33
5. Kombulade 5:52
6. Moth Dub 5:49
7. Bass Spalls 4:37
8. Purgatory Dub 5:02

Also still hot from earlier this year:
Muti011 - An-ten-nae - Acid Crunk EP1
File Under: Midtempo, Breakbeat, Electro
http://www.mutimusic.com/Muti011_Art.jpg
- Ill Gates: "i really liked this one. it'll definitely be seeing some action from me over the next little bit."
- Steelzawheelz:"thanks, will be supporting the lawgiverz mix where possible, good work!"
- Jnr Hacksaw: "the lawgiverz mix DESTROYS on the trigger rig, I'm sure I'll be hearing it again tonight."
- Jonty Skrufff (Ministry Of Sound):"I'll be reviewing it this week: spinning out this weekend in Lithuania ;-) "
1. Destroy The System (Original) 3:57
2. Destroy The System (Lawgiverz Remix) 6:15

Artwork by Phidelity
Mastered by D Bruyns
All tracks composed by Suff-x AKA Bryce Elder

Kicking off with a Dubstep outing from Suff-x in the form of 'Belmont Break' and then rolling into the bass and percussion driven Drum & Bass track 'Trunk Nuggets' this EP shows Suff-x diversity.
The Muti Music regular tip of deep electro bass tracks is well represented here by the tracks; 'Spamn' & 'The Click Trick' , which had Radioactive Man AKA Keith Tenniswood sit up and take notice when Suff-x opened for him at a Muti night in San Francisco.
Suff-x roots in Drum & Bass also come to the fore in the remaining tracks and they won't disappoint.
After outings on white labels with some storming Drum & Bass, Suff-x AKA Bryce Elder emerged into the international 'Breaks' community in 2006 with his 'CyberFreq & Electro Medicine EP' on Muti Music. Bryce has been one of the movers and shakers behind events and music production for many years in Portland Oregon and the Pacific North West.
He is well known in the North West as the local go-to person for live rig setups, he's the 'outboard gear guy / gear-head ' and managed the local Guitar Center in Portland for many years.
Suff-x is hence also known for his unique live sampler setup, his 'white-noise' iBeam / D-Beam and KAOS pad scratch emulation and for being featured at events alongside KiloWatts, Uberzone, Tipper, Radioactive Man, Ben Milstein, Kraddy, Dov & Bil Bless amongst others.

2. Aqua Legion 5:37
3. Sunshine 5:04
4. Today (Timonkey rmx feat. Joss) 3:32

Another treasure has made it's way down from the Santa Cruz mountains from the labs of the very cosmic auditory scientist 'Timonkey'.
His signature sound consisting of 'ethereal, good vibes' , wonky basslines with a little bit of wobble and the ever present influences of Trip- Hop throughout this release. The closing track 'Today' is the one that should appeal to the broadest audience as it is a cross-genre chillout-groove 'hit' in the making that will appeal as much to dub and breaks heads as it will to those who enjoy breaks or downtempo-house.
This EP is merely a taste of things to come on Timonkey's forthcoming album 'Cerulea' coming out in May on Muti Music.

Response so far:

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Recordings):
thxthx, a nice package of nice chilled beats and melodies!!!!
will play them for sure!

George 601 (601 Recordings / BreaksFM)
Reaaaaally feeling this release, very nice i don't know if it's suitable for the type of style we play out in the clubs,Today might be a good opener i'll have to mess around with it and see if i can get it in.This is exactly the kind of stuff i like for personal listening though and i'll definitely give the release some radio play on our BreaksFm show (Tuesdays 9-11pm GMT)Thanks alot for this and keep em coming.

Henryoid (Myuzyk / Virus B-23)
Re: Sunshine - Great! Reminds me of Ben Mono, on a slightly more "enlightened" vibe. I'd play this if I were still young and trendy enough to be DJing in clubs :)
Re: Aqua Legion - Nice! Liking this the most so far. Almost has a Luke Vibert sound to it but with added bass attention. Enjoying this very much. Balance of heavy and light, strong and delicate.

Bionic (Mechanoise / Revolution Music):
Loving this release, fits nicely into both radio and club/party sets. Really looking forward to his album.

Kemek The Dope Computer: "Ooh, a nice Balaeric EP that make sme wish it was summer. "Cloud City" is my favorite but it's all splendid. Can't wait for the full-length (and a few beach parties to hear it at)."

Ratling (BreaksFM)
thanks for sending me over the e.p. definately be giving it a spin.
all 4 tracks are good but i reckon track 4 is the one ill be spinning got a nice dubby vibe running through it.

Clipping Paths is a compilation showcase of the sounds that are moving the west coast at the moment as well as many other areas around USA, including small pockets in Colorado, Texas, Oregon and New York.

The CD ranges from deep urban vibes from Suff-x, Undecided and Vibesquad, to ethereal bass-driven tribal midtempo and Trip Hop from an-ten-nae, Nanda, KiloWatts, Timonkey and Dov, to a crunky mixed genre mid-tempo track from Ooah, that is sure to rock most dancefloors, but deep enough at the same time to prove the perfect segway heading into the deeper territories of IDM, Leftfield and Nugaze inspired tracks from Audiovoid, Kraddy and Slidecamp ending the CD in a very warm and luscious space.

Many of the styles featured have been growing in popularity and seeing large exposure with the emergence of a similar musical tastes in scenes growing in Berlin, San Francisco, London and even Cape Town. This 'newer' sound has partially been an homage by producers to the Hip Hop and Big Beat along with early experimental electronica that they loved in the nineties and bootlegging the hyphe and crunk of the new millennium with the new digital tools and a new production based prowess.

Muti Music is known for finding new and unique talent, this compilation features most of Muti's regular roster and then a group of closely related artists that we are feeling, who are also emerging on labels like Alpha Pup, Interchill Records, Dirtybird and Native State.
This compilation is as fun for a come-down session, a groove and a mingle, a fire warmed cabin or even a hang on the beach, so go and get it for someone for the holidays.
About:
Equally at home hanging from a tree branch or bouncing off concrete, Santa Cruz's Timonkey (Tim Donlou) fuses organic and synthetic elements together in order to bridge the worlds of nature and technology.
He says, "Branching patterns, mineral lattices, geological timescapes - the living earth is as much an influence on my music as King Tubby, Bernie Worrell, or Steve Reich ever were."
From its roots in dub, funk and ambient music, Timonkey's sound has been evolving further into the synthetic realms of midtempo glitch. He crafts his tracks using a combination of found sounds, analog synths, live instruments, and software wizardry, all from under the shade of the ancient redwoods.
Influenced by years of collaboration with the 13 Moontribe, Raindance, and Nexus crews, he brings a unique flavor to the West Coast underground.

The Experiment continues! Experiment #3 is, quite simply, one of the main reasons I wanted to get involved in the project to begin with. While the Lawgiverz are hardly a household name, their music and their performance is not to be missed. I first heard/saw them perform about a year and a half ago, and I'm still trying to find words to describe the experience. As a huge music geek/addict, that doesn't happen all that often. In a way, I think they sort of changed my relationship with music somehow. This sort of evolution of music and technology and sound and thought - it was mind-boggling (to say the least). I've seen them a couple times since, and they keep doing it. And like any proper music addict... I'm looking for another fix.

So in May we're bringing R-Kidz and Noize over from the UK to give us a performance as the Lawgiverz. They've got some new material up their sleeves, and I don't doubt their skills have continued to improve. Using computers and CDJ's and turntables and all manner of gadgetry, they'll serve up an amazing array of sound, literally crafting songs and remixing tracks for us, live as part of their performance. We've been working on ideas and designs for the venue and their performance (as well as the ten other artists on the bill... the night is literally *loaded* with top-flight entertainment). May 4th - it's actually an event that's worth traveling to San Francisco for. So mark your calendars and call your travel agents... and prepare for Experiment #3!
This promo mixset is a sampler of the slower stuff I like to play as Tao Jones. It's basically a condensed version of the hour and a half to two hours I normally play. It starts off all chunky and hiphop, gets glitchy, rages it, catches it's breath, and then get's all wobbly in the low end. The last track I probably wouldn't play at an event unless it was really appropriate, but it's one of my favourite songs ever so I thought I'd share it with you.
Play and praise from DJ's in multiple genres including High Eight, Si Begg, Glitch Mob, Dave Seamen, EK, Phil K and many more

ED2000 (Berlin, Dangerous Drums, iBreaks) "Just wanted to say thanks for the tunes - i played them all ( 3 releases - all trax ) on ibreaks radio and will do a muti music special in a few weeks when my show is live, so i will send you the playlist when that happens. its all quality stuff dude, love the label, love the sound :-)"

Kemek The Dope Computer(Roke, Muti,Bedrock Breaks): " Really liking the LayerZ “Dubstep Mix”. Weird and wonderful!"

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi, Hungary):"nice pack of remixes man... thanx again... the pack will be in my cd wallet for sureeeee!"

Jariten(Sound of Habib): Dan Mangan mix for me, please. Dov remix is cool too, but I'd use that more for radio. Dan Mangan mix will see some spins in sets for sure.

EK:"I've been a fan of Dan's original mix for a while but these remixes really take it to another level. The Kraddy and Layer Z remixes are wicked, can't make up my mind which I like better. Awesome release."

Digitalis / Seb Taylor: "Can't thank you enough for those tunes man:) Wicked, wicked release you got there! All 3 offering something different (& theres even some glitched up half-time dubstep vibes - i love it!"

Si Begg (Buckfunk3000):"This is a *heavy* release ... love it..i think Kraddy and Layerz mixes have the edge but thats only first listen..will play em out and see where we go :-) great stuff people..>>>>>>>we-must-advance !!"

DJ Ratling (BreaksFM): "I'm realy liking both tracks on side b dov & audio void & will be sure to spin them,im slightly edging towards audio void as im realy into my glitchy stuff at the moment & that fits the bill nicely."

DJ Undecided (MOB, Sango, Bassmasons) Re: Original:"I am really feeling this dirty little number def right up my alley and will be getting some good playtime."

AEMMUM (Sauvagine 94.9, France):"Oh Yes!!! This is truly good. Sure, it will appear on our next radio session on the 8th of February.

a1: Dov - Euphoria
- Euphoria is Dov's first solo tune for Muti after providing remixes on the last few and tracks under his D 'n A alliase with An-ten-nae, this one has received praise & support from Fine Cut Bodies, Platinum Mules, Tayo and many more, tough to pidgeon-hole with a complex grouping of broken beats and a 4 to the floor hook.

a2: Layerz - Evil Stuff
- Evil Stuff is LayerZ voyage into Dubstep with his Tipper-esqe style and deep grooves, he carves out a new direction for dub.

b2: Audiovoid – ElectroNom
- ElectroNom is an epic progressive tech-driven track with a beautiful melody and still enough edge to cut steel. Support for this one from IDM, Techno, Electro and Breaks heads.

Muti is known for breaking new US talent having brought Kemek, Kraddy, EVAC, An-ten-nae, Suff-x and Dov to the international stage with remarkable success. This time around and not so new to the spotlight is one of San Francisco's rising stars of bass heavy beats, better known for his previous IDM and Industrial-Techno sounds on MDEX Recordings Lindsey Green brings us our beats bass and dub fix all at once under his two aliases, as Audiovoid for his electro-techno blends & LayerZ for his dubstep, downbeat and IDM productions.

This one has already received play and praise from high end talent worldwide, check some of the early response comments below:

Si Begg: " yup..this one working fer me....in the crate "

Fine Cut Bodies (Chi Records, HU),"Euphoria is the one for my sets :) heavy and dark rolling grooveeeee....will play for sure... thanx..."

Platinum Mules:" Three very original tracks. I had no idea which direction they where going to take me in. However, I was more than impressed. Dov - Euphoria does it for me. Eerie and it hits the spot. Will be getting some rotation for time to come. No I have changed my mind, the melody in ElectroNom just made my neck hair stand up!!!! Bah..... decisions, decisions! :-)"

Tayo," nice to hear someone doing something different"

It had to be said. I dunno how many of you were at 1015 Folsom this past Friday night, but those who were can attest to the magnificence of the debut of Big Dub Project. Dov, I love the sets you throw down. Hell, your late-night soul-shaker at Nexus was not only the highlight of my Sunday on the playa, but one of the highlights of my trip to Burning Man this year. I'm bummed that I didn't get to hear the whole performance (my partner in crime was beyond exhausted), but what I did get to take in blew me completely away.

Can't wait to hear more of your own tracks on release (you'd think you'd have pull with the label), and am looking forward to more from Big Dub Project!

New 12" from Muti Music featuring Suff-x with Dov providing remix duties.

Suff-x is one of PDX (Portland Oregon) pioneering breaks promoters, musical hardware suppliers, renegade party concept maestro and music producers. He is known for his quality Drum & Bass tracks often compared to Polar / K and his Electro-Funk influenced break-beats is and banging out quality tunes in 2006 with a 4 track release on So Broken Recordings getting large support and now two tracks of bass driven techy-funk on Muti Music.

The flip-side has Muti's Dov on Remix duties once again, after the success of his Kraddy remix and collaboration project "D 'n A" in the last year, Dov steps it up a notch with some noodly bits, this time delving into some wiggly electro and techy bleeps all served on a solid bed of bass.

Suff-x discography:
Suff-x - They Are What They Are EP - Urban Renewal Records - 2001
Suff-x - Dirty Trick EP - So Broken Recordings - June 2006
(check it out on Beatport.com, they spelled his name incorrectly, but you will find it under 'Dirty Trick EP' / 'So Broken')

Muti Music has been pushing the new sounds of breaks since 2002, we have brought you the sounds of artists D 'n A, EVAC, Kemek the Dope Computer, Kraddy and Rhoca, we have featured remixes by An-ten-nae, Atomic Hooligan, Dov and Future Funk Squad. The sound of Muti has always been fresh and unique and is always a reflection of contemporary urban expression in music, utilizing influences from Techno, Breakbeat, Electro, Drum and Bass, Dub and IDM.

Rainbow Family Gathering in Colorado

From: "Don E Wirtshafter" <don@hempery.com> Attorney at Law
Subject: Help Stop Government Repression
Date: Sun, Jun 25, 2006 07:55 PM

Dear Friends,
I need your help to protect my "family," the collective efforts of tens of thousands of citizens known as the "Rainbow Family." This week, near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the U.S. Forest Service has taken illegal action to stop this annual assembly for _expression and prayer, in gross violation of the participants' essential Constitutional rights.

The 'Rainbow' Gatherings have borne a legacy of spiritual & cultural pilgrimage to the National Forests since 1972, the purest exercise of open consensual assembly in our time. The annual 'Gathering of the Tribes' draws thousands over the first week of July, focusing on the 4th as a holy day of prayer for peace and freedom. In recent years small regional events in this mode have emerged, and such gatherings have taken place in many nations around the world.

REPRESSIVE FEDERAL POLICIES --
The Bush Administration has spent millions of dollars trying to stop the Rainbow Gatherings. They are enforcing a 'Noncommercial Group Use' permit regulation that is impossible for unaffiliated individuals to comply with. They require that someone sign as an agent for a fictional group entity named as Permit Holder -- which then must assume full liability from the Government and bind participants vicariously to its terms.

By the creed of the gatherings, no one can appoint themselves to such a position. More importantly, such an ad hoc gathering has no legal capacity to designate agents or act as a group party in any way. As a result, individuals are denied personal standing in First Amendment exercise and
subjected to harsh criminal prosecution for being anywhere near the area. The Forest Service requires that a permit be applied for in advance of the gathering. And they use any excuse possible to deny a permit application when we manage to submit one. This year their denial was based on the fact that a logging company had a permit to log in a nearby parcel of the national forest, even though there is no logging activity present whatsoever. The site is far remote from any inhabitants -- but still the Forest Service is all over our case.

Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent to block this harmless gathering from taking place. The scariest aspect of all this is how Homeland Security is using these gatherings to perfect their techniques of martial law. Regulations written for the Federal Emergency Management Authority to deal with natural disasters are now being used to crush dissent in this country. Each year the Rainbow Gathering is declared a "National Incident" and federal military law ensues. A Special Agent is appointed "Incident Commander", with a Delegation of Authority, a large law enforcement "Team", and huge budget to control the gathering. Qualified Forest Service administrators lose their power, while the county sheriff and other officials are brought into targeted law enforcement actions by inclusion in the Incident Team and other inter-agency agreements. Each year Homeland Security gains more power over the individuals involved.

RIGHTS CRISIS IN COLORADO --
At this writing Forest Service law enforcement has issued over 500 tickets to the early arrivals at the gathering in Colorado. They have blocked the road and have prevented food and water from reaching those who managed to get into the gathering before the police roadblock was set up. The 500 people with tickets are being herded into trials like none anyone has seen before in America.

These pseudo trials are prototypes for what Homeland Security will use in the cases of insurrection or even a plague. Defendants lose the right to a public hearing (this year these hearings are being held behind closed doors in a firehouse garage near the site). Attorneys and legal observers have been denied the right to even view these trials. The defendants are not explained their rights nor afforded the right to an attorney, the right to summon witnesses, the right to a jury trial, etc.

Defendants are ordered to appear each day at 9:00 a.m. and sit in the hot sun without water or sanitary facilities until their trials. Some have now been waiting for several days. These abbreviated trials only take a few minutes. Last year I tried to help a string of defendants defend themselves in these "trials" but felt helpless to do much as the system was clearly stacked against them. This year is especially frustrating to me as I have to watch this come down from 6000 miles away. Right now I am in Hungary at a medical conference for my employment. I am flying home on Thursday and plan on being in court Saturday, July 1st, to defend some of my best friends who got a ticket for "illegally gathering" as they drove down a public highway.

WHAT TO DO --
The confrontation this year is getting more intense by the minute, which is why I am asking for your help. The only way to stop a massive conflagration in Colorado in the next few days is to get thousands of people to contact their political representatives as well as the responsible administrators at the Forest Service to demand that this repression stop immediately.

Please, even if you can never conceive of yourself at a Rainbow Gathering, you must understand that if these citizens lose their constitutional right to gather, we all lose such rights. This year the Rainbow Gathering is being used to set precedents that will be turned against drug policy, civil liberty, anti-war or other activists in the near future.

Following are some instructions on who to write and/or call. We hope to start flooding the Department of Agriculture and the Forest Service with complaints starting Monday morning and not stopping until harassment stops. It is especially important that we get a few Congressional representative and Senators concerned enough to write the Forest Service for an explanation of why so much money is being spent to keep people from camping in the National Forest set aside for exactly that purpose.

Please keep the pressure on these bureaucrats until we are able to spread the word that the government has backed off and that the gathering can proceed unhindered. If you do not know the contact information for your Congressman or Senator, you can find this here. You can call your representative at 212-224-3121. Besides your representatives in Washington, please call and write the following people to voice your protest to this harsh treatment of people who just want to go on a camping trip in the woods. Keep the calls coming until word is passed around that the government has called off their dogs. Please forward this letter to your friends and feel free to re-post it on any listserv or website you wish. Email me if you have any questions.
